To find out which of the meanings the title of this book refers you’ll have to read it yourself. This is an enjoyable read which describes why Ben Curtis was moved to leave the U.K, it walks through his ups and downs, joys and misunderstandings to a satisfactory ending. Errant in Iberia covers the first three bewildering and enjoyable years of his life in Spain. WIth Madrid as his base Ben takes us on several jaunts around the vast new homeland of a Spain he’s discovering and enjoying. Travelling into SpainFrom his first entry into Spain across the Pyranees he’s hooked on a magical land that captivates all its visitors. He had the chance or the courage to make it more than a visit - he makes it his life. The reader is taken along with him through the many learning curves and language difficulties. Curtis shows “the good life” or the dream that many people have as a reality that has its bad moments -nowhere to live and its highs - buying a flat and finding builders that actually do the job he’s asked for, complete it and leave. A home of his own in a land not his own was not his plan. The vague idea had been a short visit to Spain and as an aside taking some photographs while there. This book takes us through the fumbling around in a large city where he could hardly speak the language. He learnt. Describing the Spanish culture and the Madrid scene with fresh eyes Ben takes us with him on his journey into a new life, romances and the putting down of some tentative roots. Errant in Iberia is a refreshing change from the dirth of new life books and rustic retreats in the countryside. This is the story of a young man, free, single and sick of life in the UK, who finds himself in a life he didn’t plan. So far it’s all going well – very well. The book ends in a toast - Un brindis to life. A new life ….Viva……. For some reason the front cover of the book has changed since the first issue. Errant in Iberia is available from Lulu with the ISBN NO.978-1411652590 Priced at $12.38
