A beautiful book full of memories, people, sunshine and lovely recipes by a great chef and nice guy too! Be inspired - if this book doesn't get you cooking - none will!

Rick Stein’s Mediterranean Escapes was published to accompany the British T.V series of the same name, which was first broadcast on BBC2 in 2007.

Hopefully it will get another airing, after seeing the beautiful photography in the book you’ll want to see the filming too.

The BBC’s Food Personality of the year in 2004 Rick Stein has done it again with this fabulous full-colour cookbook, worthy of a top place on any bookshelf.

It’s almost a travel memoir with the incredible photo’s enticing you into not only the recipes but the glorious countries of the Mediterranean too.

Visiting the islands of Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily and Mallorca as well as mainland France, Italy, Greece, Spain , Turkey and Morocco Stein brings plenty of flavour into this big hard-back production.

Most recipes come with a photograph and all with a write-up of where how and when by Stein himself. The way the recipes are introduced, inspired by Stein’s knowledge, enthusiasm and local history make them even more appetising.

He even introduces the people that shared their food with him, as he then makes his own version of their recipe probably simplified or westernised for his book. It’s been said that this collection is his best yet – no arguement can be made in that department!

All fans will love the insight into Stein himself as he shares more than the recipes call for. This book would make a great present for all cooks, travellers and foodies out there and a fabulous one for Stein worshippers.

A great feature of the book is the Key Mediterranean Ingredients - which it lists country by country and an essential techniques and basic récipe section.

From a basic stock to preserved lemons and allioli to flatbreads this recipe collection is guaranteed to keep you cooking, eating and dreaming of blue skies!

Rick Stein OBE (Order of the British Empire) owns and runs the U.K Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, Cornwall and also runs the Padstow Seafood Cookery School.

He was awarded his OBE in 2003 for his services to British Tourism.
