San Sebastian - Michelin Restaurant TownThree Michelin Starred Establishments Northern SpainFor a gastronomic treat the town of San Sebastian will feed you well. It has three 3* Michelin Restaurants for your delight.
La Concha in the Bay de Biscay on the north coast of Spain is home to San Sebastian a delightful old city that has welcomes the new era with style and grace. It has 3km of unspoilt beaches and many charming heritage monuments that charmed the European aristocracy in their day, it is almost French in feel and not surprising as it is only 20km from the French border. This is the heart of the country they call Basque, rugged and charming, but there’s another reason for visiting this city on the coast – its cuisine. San Sebastion is a gastronome’s delight. The city has three Michelin Restaurants and not just that - they are all three-star restaurants, the highest award given and the only city in the world with so many Michelin restaurants in its borders. Michelin Restaurant of San SebastianRestaurant Arzak – Features the local Donostiaarra cuisine, it is a luxurious family run restaurant - Juan Mari Arzak and his daughter, Elena. Arzak considered to be the finest chef in Spain and is a great champion for Basque cuisine in both its modern and traditional style. After a rather pricey but worth every centimos meal, you can save some euros in the excellent tapas (or pintxoz as they are so called ) bars. Locally caught fare are on offer - brocheta de gambas (fried prawns with a special vinaigrette) or bola de carne (meatballs with red pepper). Sample some of the wonderful seafood available then take a stroll around the really good Palacio de Mar Aquarium which is well worth a visit, it's not particularly cheap admission but it’s said to be the equivalent of a 3* aquarium. Time your visit to the city as it turns into a stage for several festivals with Jazz in July and a Film fair in September. From the small fishing village that once was San Sebastian has grown a proud and prosperous grand-father reflecting on his young. Head to its heart of the city where it pulses with bars and and restaurants in its narrow streets. A seaside city that has plenty of charm – faded grandeur and excellent food!
